"Go where they celebrate you, Not tolerate you"- Charlamange The God

So with all the frenzy of the release of the 2016 Grammy nominations there is always the oohs and the aahs of this award show. Who should have been nominated, who wasn't nominated, I can't believe this person was nominated.

With that being said let's talk Mr. Maybach O aka Omarion, over the summer popular club banger if you will "Post to be" song performed by Omarion feat Chris Brown & Jhene Aiko. Ms. Aiko coined the fans favorite saying "Eat the booty like groceries" Mr. Maybach is a little peeved that his song was not nominated for a grammy.

This what he said on his twitter feed: ''Post to be" is one of the greatest R&B collaborations ever. CB, Jhene, & myself been in the game 10+"

Best R&B collaboration Ever? Hmm... I am not sure about sir but OK! I do understand Omarion discomfort with the snub. Let be honest "Post to be" is like I mentioned a club song, catchy yes, memorable, eh not to me but that just my opinion.

The Grammies nominee selections are based on a number of things

Recording Academy & Members; i.e - The Record Label submit the entires for the songs and albums
-  Screening: Reviewing sessions from experts in various fields

Long story short, talk to your peers about this man, there are many chapters and groups that is apart of the recording academy. How often in the realm of the R&B and Hip Hop genre do you hear any artist, label head, producer or songwriter in this genre say that they are apart of the Grammy board.

Yeah that what I have I thought, The Grammy's is like the oscar of the music industry I totally get that. And of course it normal for an artist to want to be recognized for their art.

Omarion sir you have been regonized for being in game for over ten years by your own peers, You have won awards like the BET awards, the urban music awards, and won a 2015 soul train award. But I guess that is not a high enough honor for you. Not being nominated this go round for a Grammy does not mean the end of the world.

Another artist that is quite upset about his snub is Mr. Lupe Fiasco, his album 'Tetsuo & Youth" or any song off the album was not nominated or even mentioned for a Grammy.

The only award I ever really cared about was the Grammy…everything I put was nominated. Until today. End Of An Era. Lemme hold that L - Lupe Fiasco Twitter 12/07/15

Well Lupe better luck next time, and Lupe is one of my favorite rap artist, if this was ten years ago I would be rightfully upset along with him. But in this climate of the music industry I am not surprised he was not nominated.

Lupe won a Grammy in 2008 for his song "Daydream featuring Jill Scott" well deserved at the time, in lupe defense I can understand his snub a little bit being that he has been nominated twelve times. But like I mentioned before, talk to your peers man.

We need to be realistic, the academy has a old regime in place, and in order for that to change and instead of complaining,  get on the board. Talk to your fellow artist and get them involved, become apart of the voting process.

In the meantime appreciated the accomplishments and the acknowledgement that has been received, you know how many episodes of unsung I have watched and half of those artist was never ever nominated for a  grammy,.

Man you guys better go some where and count your blessings.

June 11th 1996 Mona Lisa released her debut 11-20-79

As I continue with my series of great albums of 1996, this album that I am featuring on this post is probably in my top 10 of  my top 100 favorite albums. I promise I will treat you all to that list one day soon, I have been mentally creating that list forever, as old albums stay the same, new albums come out so stay tuned. Anyway this album featured on today's post is an album that I still play on a regular basis to this day.

Movie soundtracks was big in the 90s, sometimes even bigger than regular albums, the Wayans brothers had this hilarious move called "Don't be a menace while drinking your juice in south central" a spoof on all the hood classic films in the 90s.  The soundtrack was even better, R&B singer Joe had one of the biggest hits that helped him become name in R&B. He had a song called "All The Things…

What's Going On?

I may talk about music and culture, It is my way to ease the pain with all the things I see going on in this world. But it is too much to ignore, last weekend there was bomb explosion in Mogadishu, Somalia. As of right now it has been reported that 300 lives has been lost due the terrorist attack.

I do my best to keep up with what is going on, whether it's in pop culture, local or national news. And with this recent terrorist attack. The one thing I don't see flooding up and down my time lines on my social media feed. Is  #PrayForSomalia, that is something that is very scarce across the feeds. But I bet your bottom dollar I can see the endless memes of bitches not being shit and its numerous likes.

That goes without fail, I posted a few links about this horrific incident and all I have heard is crickets. If I posted a joke and made fun of reality star. It would have been likes and comments galore. I am not tell…

I was sixteen years old in 1997, music was life back then for me, and in that year I needed it more then ever, My freshmen year of high school was 1996 - 1997 and during that school year I was at a school I did not want to be at. In the city of Buffalo at that time, during 8th grade year students had to pick the top choices of the high school they wanted to go to. It was all based on grades during 7th grade year and first grade quarter of 8th grade.

Math was my weakest subject, and the schools that I chose at the time a student had to excel well in the area of math. And me not being on my A game it caused me to loose out on all of my choices of the schools I wanted to attend. So in fall of 1996 I was at my district school. While all my Jr. high friends was at the school of their choices living the high life.

I had to make a daily trip to south Buffalo, a place I did not want to be, what kept me calm to and from schoo…
